Abbeydale & Abbeymead In Gloucester

Abbeydale and Abbeymead are suburbs or villages on the outskirts of Gloucester. Most of the Abbeydale area was green fields until around 1971, when they built the Heron Park estate.

They designed the Heron estate under the Radburn model. Its loops and cul-de-sacs radiating from a central spine road, Heron Way. This gives access to the rear of the houses where there are garages and hard-standings. The houses face each other across interconnecting pathways and green spaces. As a result, it separates pedestrians from cars. In keeping with the developer’s brand name, they named the streets after British birds. More info…

Ridge & Furrow

Abbeydale Shops

The biggest shopping outlet next to Heron Way (Abbeydale) has four (formerly five) shops, it has the Morrisons supermarket, Lloyds Pharmacy, Ruby Cantonese and Sue Ryder Care.
