Innovative Eco-Textile Workshops in Natural Dye Foraging and Printmaking. This workshop introduces you to the craft of foraging and creating botanical colours for print making and develop a sustainable textile design.
Botanical Inks provide pioneering workshops for resilient creative design practices, using “closed loop systems”, from plant to print. Botanical Inks provide skills and knowledge for harnessing renewable, locally grown materials and earth-positive production methods, in creative centres across the South West.
All products are developed without the use of any synthetic materials or chemicals, setting us apart from the rest of the known Natural Dye Artisans.
Created by Sustainable Fashion & Textiles Designer, Babs Behan and Permaculturist/Printmaker Flora Arbuthnott. Botanical Inks teaches people to forage local pigment-producing plants for colourfast dyeing and textile printing with UK grown and manufactured textiles, including wool and organic peace silk. Promoting closed loop, human-scale design systems for earth-friendly, zero-impact and biologically nutritious products is central to our mission. The workshops include foraging and plant material processing, dyeing, block print, screen print, potato print and shibori tie dying techniques. Our sessions are informative, informal and great fun.
Everyone enjoys the opportunity to get creative with these new, ecological mediums and leaves with their own hand printed silk scarf or other beautiful craftwork.
