Ghosts of Gloucestershire, Ghost Tours, Walks & Haunted Places
For those interested in ghost walks, and tours, there are options in Gloucestershire, including in Gloucester & Cheltenham. I have always had an interest in the paranormal, ghosts and haunted houses. However have recently been watching some great TV shows relating to the topic. My interest started after hearing campfire stories when younger, some ghost stories were really terrifying. Through life, I have experienced a few unexplainable events, including some in Gloucestershire. The last one being odd noises and the feeling of something passing. All while enjoying a beer in the New Inn in Gloucestershire. I subsequently stayed the night at the New Inn in Gloucester, however, it was quite a normal night.
What is the Paranormal?
They say the paranormal is a subset of pseudoscience. What sets the paranormal apart from other pseudosciences is a reliance on explanations for alleged phenomena that are well outside the bounds of established science. Thus, paranormal phenomena include extrasensory perception, telekinesis, ghosts, poltergeists, life after death, reincarnation, faith healing, human auras, etc.

Gloucestershire’s Owlpen Manor is reported to have a bewildering array of ghosts. These include a former Queen of England, a 17th-century alchemist, a mischievous child and the ‘Black Monk’. The Most Haunted team visited to investigate for the first episode of their 4th series.

The Ancient Ram Inn is a Grade II* listed building and a former pub in Wotton-under-Edge. They say it is one of the most haunted hotels in the country. This attracted the Ghost Adventures team to visit. They investigated the Ancient Ram in their 8th episode and finale of their 2nd season. Ghost Adventures is a long-running American TV show that investigates paranormal activity using science and experiences.
They built the Ancient Ram Inn in around 1145, and the inn has a rich and dark history. The site also used to be a pagan burial ground, a site of alleged sacrifices of children. This building also has connections to Stonehenge via ley lines.
Their investigation highlighted EVPs or electronic voice phenomena and some disembodied voices and laughter. They spotted dark mists and doors closing, which they featured. However, if you believe or don’t, the series is a great watch.
