The Bear Inn Bisley
The Bear Inn is a splendid example of what a traditional British village pub should be like. It oozes atmosphere and has a friendly ambience and is much loved by guests and locals.
The Bear Inn is in the village of Bisley, near to Stroud in Gloucestershire. The pub serves great food every day and has an interesting menu. Their food menu includes fantastic steaks and even a roast dinner on Sundays. They have a range of drinks including many real ales and fine wines.
The Royal George Hotel
The Royal George Hotel is a lovely place to dine out and has spectacular views of the Cotswolds. It is in the Gloucestershire countryside, thus is a great base to explore the AONB. It’s a great place to visit for a special meal out or after a walk refreshments.
Enjoy some delicious bar snacks and lighter bites and real cask ales in the traditional bar. Daily “Specials” available. In the warmer months, you can dine outside on the patio and terrace and enjoy the beautiful countryside.
They are near to both Cheltenham and Gloucester, in the stunning Gloucestershire village of Birdlip via the A46, A417 or the M5 Junction 11a, with easy access to the county. Their menu has some fantastic options including some seafood, steaks, ploughman’s and more.
Galgos Latino
Based in the heart of Stroud Galgos Latino is in the former pub The Greyhound. The restaurant focuses its menu on Latin American dishes, including Venezuelan and Mexican dishes. The venue has a nice comfortable vibe with comfy seating, including a nice sofa neat to the bar.
The menu includes main courses such as Steak Chimichurri and Carne Mecheda, a traditional shredded beef stew from Venezuela. They also have a superb choice for fish meals and food suitable for vegetarians.
The bar serves a variety of drinks, including beer from local breweries. Soft drink options include a variety of juices including peach, orange, cranberry or ginger beer.
The Old Lodge Minchinhampton in the Cotswolds
The Old Lodge is an eatery on Minchinhampton Common, an ideal place for sustenance after a walk or a round of golf. This restaurant has some stunning views of the local Cotswold hills and Stroud Valleys. The bar has a relaxed vibe with comfy indoor seating or a beer-garden to sit in on a warm day.
They base their menu on locally sourced food cooked to a high standard. The Old Lodge prides itself on its “Strong with vegan dishes” and fantastic meat options.
The Old Fleece Woodchester
Near to Woodchester is The Old Fleece, a nice place to go out for an evening meal. The Old Fleece is a 250-year-old former coaching inn and looks rather impressive and historical. The fleece is perfect for outdoor eating or more formal sit down meal inside the nicely decorated bar or dining area.
The Old Fleece serves food daily from 11 am until 10 pm. They are even dog-friendly, so you can bring Fido along. Their menu is pretty special and includes delights such as lamb shank, local meats, vegetarian katsu curry and more. They also serve a traditional roast dinner every Sunday.
The Crown in Cirencester
The Crown is a lovely pub to visit in the centre of Cirencester. They pride themselves on serving fantastic food in nice surroundings. They have both inside seating and a beer garden. Their menu has main meals and lighter lunches to enjoy. One of my favourite options for lunch at The Crown in Cirencester is their ploughman’s. This ices fantastic cheeses, ham, pickle and delicious bread. Overall, The Crown is a fantastic place to visit for a drink or a meal out.

Tara Restaurant at Hatton Court
The Tara Restaurant at the Hatton Court Hotel showcases the best local ingredients cooked by very talented chefs. The Tara Restaurant has a few menu variants, including a breakfast menu, lounge menu and an À la carte dinner menu. On Sundays, the kitchen does a very nice Sunday Lunch, ideal for those wishing for a traditional roast dinner. The À la carte menu includes some delightful dishes, including fish of the day, pork belly with creamed potatoes or beef fillet, to name a few. The lounge menu serves elevenses, lunchtime light bites like a burger, sandwiches or grazing boards to share, including the ploughman’s board.
