In many senses Rovin’ Fest represents the musical diversity reflected within 19 years of Subtone. Since opening its doors in ’96, as a live jazz and funk venue, Subtone has existed at the forefront of an ever-shifting British club and music scene.
Its list of artists, both live and within the ever changing Electro Technologies/ DJ Scene remains as good as any to be found anywhere and over the years has won much critical acclaim.
Rovin’ Fest looks to represent the essence of this, old and new, for the young and for the not so young, a great music festival experience for all the family, newbie’s and regular festival goers alike.
Here is a taste of some of the incredible acts that will be filling this long weekend with ‘ear candy’ for ALL.
The Festival Line Up
Seamlessly fusing, Hip Hop, Funk, Breaks, DnB and Reggae, Barry Ashworth, a true legend of the British Urban Music, and his evergreen bunch of dubwise vagabonds have been rocking practically every festival in existence, and yet have still found time to squeeze out new album after new album…7 in total.
Multi Award Winners- DJ MAGAZINE Best Live Dance Band 2012. Breakspoll best live band 2013. BMA Best live act 2014.
With their 2007 first Brit Pop album reaching no.1, and their second going top 10- THE HOOSIERS return bringing a bag of new songs fromtheir forthcoming third album- as well as classics such as ‘Goodbye MrA’ !
Like the Pogues, but with much better Teeth. They’ve held gigs in Land Rovers. They’ve sung while wing-walking. They’ve toured in a narrow boat. They’ve stomped and jigged on restaurant tables, in hotel elevators and in record label car parks. And wherever they play their lusty shanties, punk folk roar-alongs and crazed whirls of love, fighting and hardcore drinking – be it festival camp-fire, pub snug, Vans Warped Tour or to 5000 people crammed into a tent at Fuji Rock – you’ll find them out dancing with the crowd, passing around their flagon of rum or crowd-surfing to the bar, double-bass in hand, to neck shots mid-song. Make no bones – Skinny Lister are the wildest party band you’ll ever get drunk with, or just party with. And you will get drunk with them, or just party with them,……hard.
DMC World Champion CUTMASTER SWIFT (CMS)
