The Docks

The Historic Gloucester Docks is one of the best tourist attractions in the city. It is not far to walk to from the town centre or the other major attraction, The Cathedral

The many old but restored Victorian warehouses that make an interesting backdrop for the Festival. Gloucester docks formed when the Canal from Sharpness opened in 1827 and allowed boats to bypass a treacherous part of the River Severn. The ships usually arrive via the canal after travelling up the Bristol Channel.
