The Pilot Inn is at Sellars bridge on the Gloucester to Sharpness canal in Hardwicke. The Pilot Inn is a good pub with a restaurant and a fantastic beer garden.
Both the beer garden and the bar area are dog friendly and are very popular with dog walkers. The pub supplies a bowl of drinking water and has limited rules posted up by the entrance.
Drinks at The Pilot Inn
The bar has a range of beverages to choose from including a few lagers including Amstel. Real ales, cider and wine are also available for you and soft drinks for non-drinkers or children.
You are welcome to eat in the dining area, bar or beer garden with table service. Their menu is diverse to suit most dietary requirements and tastes. They base the theme around pub-grub and serve delights like ham, egg and chips. They offer a variety of burgers, sandwiches, basket meals or a full English breakfast.
However, the pub now has a Romanian chef who knocks up some great specials. This includes his take on the schnitzel, which is a staple in central and eastern Europe.
Walks In Hardwicke
The pub is a great place to visit after a walk along the canal or if you like to walk further up to the River Severn, Elmore or Longney. Many hikers park their cars at the pub’s car park or at the limited parking sports near to Sellars Bridge, then set out on a circular walk.
One great Walk is via the canal and cutting through to the River Severn, then walking up to Weir Green, which is very picturesque. Another is walking south towards Sharpness then turning off at the disused bridge and returning through the marked footpaths through the fields known locally as badgers way.
