The Turks Head Inn on Southgate Street in Gloucester is a new find for @aboutglos, shocked I haven’t popped in before. This pub is an unique venue with a funny set of rules on the outside and eclectic décor inside.
The Turks Head Inn
The pub has both inside and outside seating, there are a few seats outside on Southgate Street, a lounge like area just inside the door and the bar area. The bar area seemed the most popular part, this had a great vibe and staff and customers were friendly and willing to have banter. The Turks Head Inn is the first micropub in the city, it opened I believe in 2018.
I only stopped for one pint of cider, the barman recommended Sheppy Cider from their extensive menu. Sheppy’s is a 200 year old family owned, sixth generation master cider maker. One of the oldest and most respected cider brands in the world.
They have 28 different types of cider so is paradise for those that love cider. They also have a range of lagers and real ales on offer.
The Turks Head makes it clear dogs are welcome on their entrance, also they have dog treats on the bar. Another good venue for the Gloucester Dog Friendly pubs page.
I will be returning to this place as it is something very different, is good value and those 28 ciders are not going to test themselves.
