The Wilderness Centre in Mitcheldean in The Forest of Dean is celebrating its 50th anniversary in 2019 and are launching an exciting Summer Programme of events and activities. The Wilderness Centre is a historic stately home nestled within 30 acres of private grounds with forest, fields and its own stone circle, commanding spectacular views over the River Severn and beautiful Gloucestershire countryside.
Known to a whole generation of people, throughout Gloucestershire and beyond, as the place where they had their first adventure away from home, The Wilderness Centre has been successfully providing outdoor education with accommodation for young people for 50 years.
The Wilderness Centre
The Centre remains true to its 50 year legacy and continues to focus on providing exceptional residential stays for schools from all over Gloucestershire. Their qualified team share their knowledge and invite the young people to explore, learn and connect with nature, within the greatest classroom, the great outdoors.
In addition, they offer exclusive use weekend hire of the house so that large groups of guests can enjoy life in a historic stately home, relax and explore their own 30 acres of grounds. Guests can take part in onsite outdoor activities, such as bush craft, archery, abseiling, crate stack and orienteering with qualified instructors or gather together around the huge fire pit in our grounds for a shared feast.
Weddings & Gatherings
The Wilderness Centre really is the perfect venue for friends and family to share parties, weddings and reunions.
The house also lends itself beautifully as a venue for Business events, music, yoga, retreats, mindfulness, residential courses and retreats. It can offer large rooms for meetings, conference, or training, professional catering kitchens, sleeping up to 54.
This year, which is the centre’s 50th anniversary, they unveiled a fabulous Bell Tent Village. This is located in the original old walled orchard, this secluded spot provides peace and calm for a ‘getaway under the stars’ or the perfect place for a gathering with friends.
