I finally visited Tigers Eye Restaurant in Gloucester after hearing lots of good things about their hot stone dishes.
Tiger’s Eye is the first Hot Rock Grill restaurant in the city occupying the two floors of The Old Bell a listed Inn dating back to the 17th Century. It is located on Southgate Street not far from St Michael’s Tower.
The Venue is split into a bar area and a nice restaurant area with comfy seating.
Their menu is built around the hot rock idea where you get to cook your food to your own taste on hot rocks and served with the side of your choice.
You can cook a variety of meats on your hot rocks including many beet steak cuts, venison, kangaroo and other exotic meats. They also have vegetarian and seafood options to cook yourself.
Hot Rock Options
- Angus Sirloin Steak
- Angus Beef fillet steak
- Angus Rib-Eye Steak
- Angus Rump Steak
- Venison Haunch Steak
- Lamb Rump
- Duck Breast
- King Prawns
- Wagyu Sirloin
- Zebra Haunch Steak
- Llama Haunch Steak
Their menu also has a variety of other options including burgers and other Asian inspired fusion dishes cooked by the chef.
I was a solo diner grabbing a bite while hosting #gloshour and there were plenty of seats available in the restaurant on a Wednesday evening. The Server was attentive and efficient and willing to make recommendations. The seating was comfortable and table presented with cutlery or chopsticks.
I opted for an old favourite, Birra Moretti to drink with my meal, nice and cold and arrived quickly. For my meal I opted for The Venison Steak hot stone dish served with fries and a few sauces for the chips. The meal arrived promptly with the meat sizzling on the hot rock just starting to cook. I enjoy my meat medium rare and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of cutting off slices as it cooked. This was very tasty and perfectly seasoned.
I would recommend a visit for anyone that enjoys meat. https://tigerseyerestaurant.co.uk/
