Robinswood Hill Walk – Nice Walks in Gloucester

Robinswood Hill in Gloucester is a great place to enjoy a walk and explore the local countryside. Walking around the hill can take many routes, depending on your choice. You will see magnificent views, a range of wildlife and some magnificent spots for taking photos.

If you haven’t walked on Robinswood Hill, please do so. There is so much to see.

Walking Route Maps

There are lots of walking routes marked on the hill. You can also freestyle by joining different paths as they cross. All routes can effectively become circular walks if you have a moderate sense of direction.

Although they have signs for the walks, sometimes it is useful to have a map to plan a walk. An Ordnance Survey paper map is useful for navigating the hill and for hiking routes from the hill.

There are many walking apps on the internet covering this area; my favourite is Komoot, which is fantastic for hiking.

Walks on Robinswood Hill in Gloucester

It is a beautiful walk to the top. My only disappointment was that I haven’t climbed the hill more. It is stunning. I will now walk on the hill more frequently on different routes in different seasons.

These are all of my photographs from the walk. It was a very nice day, as you can see from the blue sky in the photographs. There were some stunning views of the Cotswolds, the Malvern Hills, the Severn Estuary & the Forest of Dean.

Gloucester Ski & Snowboard Centre in Matson

Gloucester Ski & Snowboard Centre on Robinswood Hill in Matson is home to a 230-metre main slope, an extended racing slope and beginners’ courses. The slopes are all serviced by four ski lifts.

Ski & snowboard lessons are ideal for individuals, children and larger groups, and they also offer tuition for budding instructors. This is the only skiing school in Gloucestershire, and many come here to learn or practise. The slopes are a great place to keep your hand in for a refresher before a trip to a skiing resort.

They also offer tubing and sledging sessions for all abilities, and manoeuvre practice takes place on an inflatable ring. Tubing is a great fun activity for people of all ages and requires minimal skill. You can book sessions for groups or for individuals.
