I recently visited Greek on the docks for the 2nd time last weekend and we had a very enjoyable time.
The restaurant is located on the Waterfront in Gloucester docks and serves Greek food in the restaurant or in the outside seating area. We opted for inside due to the stormy weather but on a nice day would have eaten outside.
Greek on the Docks Restaurant
This place is a modern Greek and Mediterranean restaurant whose philosophy is to bring quality food & creativity to the table. The décor is smart and a relaxed environment.
On my 1st visit I had a calamari starter which was cooked perfectly followed by Souvlaki which was very tender.
My 2nd visit was as a result of fancying whitebait for a few weeks and as soon as I spotted it on their menu my return visit was decided. I obviously had the whitebait as a starter which was served with lemon and tzatziki. It was very tasty, crispy and scratched my itch.
For main course I opted for the delicious and very filling Athena Mixed Grill, a nice choice for meat lovers like me.
The Athena includes pork on a skewer, a flavourful burger, lamb chops, Greek sausage and a chicken fillet. This was served with fries or rice, tzatziki and pitta bread.
My partner opted for the Taramas, which is smoked cod’s roe mixed with olive oil and lemon juice, served with pitta bread. For main course stuck with fish and enjoyed Lavraki, which is Sea bass glazed in lemon and olive oil, with spinach rice (an authentic recipe of Northern Greece apparently).
I had some very nice Greek wine and a lager during my meal, they have a good choice of drinks including those from the wall of wine.
I would return for sure and enjoyed a filling delicious meal in a relaxed environment, I hope the weather is nice for next visit so can enjoy a meal alfresco overlooking Gloucester Docks.
