Greek on the Docks Gloucester – A Greek Restaurant Review
I have visited Greek on the docks many times in the last few years and had a very enjoyable time. This includes some fantastic date nights. They are a very good Greek restaurant who does some delicious cuisine, especially the meat options. Greek on the Docks is a fantastic place for a date night or celebration.

The restaurant is on the Waterfront in Gloucester docks. They serve Greek food in the restaurant or in the outside seating area. I’ve opted for both inside and outside seating. This depended on the weather, however, their outside seating is covered. Both areas are just as nice. The outside terrace also welcomes dogs and they usually have a dog bowl.

Meals out & Date Night at Greek on the Docks
On my first visit, I had a calamari starter which they cooked perfectly. Also on this meal out, I enjoyed their take on Souvlaki, which was very tender.

Another visit was because I had been fancying whitebait for a few weeks. As soon as I spotted it on their menu, I then booked my return visit. I obviously had the whitebait as a starter with lemon and tzatziki. It was delicious, crispy and scratched my itch.

For the main course, I opted for the delicious and very filling Athena Mixed Grill. The mixed grill is a very nice choice for meat lovers like me. The Athena includes pork on a skewer, a flavourful burger, lamb chops, Greek sausage and a chicken fillet. They served this with fries or rice, tzatziki and pitta bread.

My partner opted for the Taramas or smoked cod roe mixed with olive oil and lemon juice. They traditionally serve Taramas with pitta bread. For the main course stuck with fish and enjoyed Lavraki, which is Sea bass glazed in lemon and olive oil. They served this with spinach rice (an authentic recipe from Northern Greece, apparently).
For another date night, we went all out and enjoyed their sharing plates for the starter and main course. First was a platter of traditional Greek starters with pita bread. This included taramasalata, bean salad, anchovies, olives, feta cheese and also some fish.

The main course was a real special treat, a fish mixed grill for two people. Their fish mixed grill was rather tasty and included lobster tail, swordfish, king prawns, and sea bass. They served this with a risotto like mussels with rice and some shellfish BBQ sauce. This was a fantastic date night enhanced by the cuisine.

A Greek meal is not complete without a traditional pudding. They also did a sharing plate with three deserts to try. These were sweet and delicious, the pastry was perfectly cooked and the honey flavours were excellent.
Drinks
I had some very nice Greek wine and a lager during my meal. They have a wonderful choice of drinks, including those from the wall of wine. They are also one of the few places in Gloucester to serve Erdinger, a delicious German wheat beer.

Review of Greek on the Docks
I would return for sure and enjoyed a filling delicious meal in a relaxed environment. I hope the weather is nice for the next visit so can enjoy a meal alfresco overlooking Gloucester Docks.
