After enjoying a walk or cycle, there is also a café near the car park and picnic area. This cafe is a great place where you can admire the surroundings over a cup of tea or coffee.

Walks at Mallards Pike in The Forest of Dean

The surrounding forest is a great place for a walk and has loads of trails of differing difficulties. One of my favourites is heading to Cannop Ponds and back via a different route. You will meet other walkers and cyclists on the way and spotting some local wildlife, especially birds of prey. You can also walk towards The Sculpture Trail or the Speech House Hotel.

Walking here is great in all the seasons and looks a different place in each. The photos on this page are mainly in the winter months. In Autumn the whole local area is vibrant with autumnal colours and horse-chestnuts to collect.
