Queen’s Fish Bar Barnwood, Gloucester
Queen’s Fish Bar is a restaurant in Gloucester is at the former site of the old cross keys pub on Barnwood Road. They describe themselves as a premium fish & chip restaurant & takeaway with a stylish bar providing the very best dining experience.
The Grand Opening of Queen’s
A relaxed affair where the owners were not just approachable but approached me as I was unfortunately alone. I explained what I do here at @aboutglos and emailed them my using Twitter in Gloucestershire guides.
As @hotelgloucester couldn’t make it, I collected some menus so on my recommendation the hotel will send guests towards Barnwood rather than visiting the city centre for food in the evenings.
Drink
They treated the guests to champagne or orange juice on arrival, which continued to flow, but with the option of ordering a range of draught or bottled beers. lagers or ciders. Wines, spirits, and soft drinks were also on offer.
Food
As this was an event, the menu was a set menu showcasing the food, but the full menu looked even more delicious.
Starter – To start we had a very well presented crispy prawns and breaded mushrooms served on a long plate with thick creamy mayonnaise and salad.
Main Course – This is a fish and chip restaurant so the main had to be fish and chips. They presented and cooked this perfectly and tasted very nice. My plate was clean after.
Desert – Although I ate little, the Tiramisu tasted great; I wish I hadn’t eaten a late lunch but will return for more.
