On Montpellier Walk in Cheltenham is Harry Cook’s, a vibrant British pub that is ideal for drinking or dining out. They have seating inside and out the front overlooking Montpellier Gardens. Drinks at Harry Cook’s vary from traditional pub beers and craft ales to well-made cocktails.
The Harry Cook’s food menu includes a pub grub section and a lovely vegetarian section, including their Beyond Meat burger. Finally, they have a whole burger section on their menu; they look very tempting, especially the Big Cow, a hearty meal. This dish is a British beef burger with beef brisket, cheesy sauce, and onions.
The Steam & Whistle
The Steam & Whistle, formerly The Midland Hotel, is located opposite Cheltenham train station. They are an ideal pub to visit when changing trains or before or after a journey. It has outdoor seating and a bar area. They have nicely decorated the inside, and it is a wonderful pub for a beer or two. The exterior side wall is well worth a look, with some fantastic street art.
Frog & Fiddle
On Cheltenham High Street is the excellent Frog & Fiddle pub and live music venue. Frog & Fiddle is a great bar to hang out at during the day, with a great vibe and comfy chairs. The Frog and Fiddle also has an outside courtyard, which is wonderful on a sunny day. They also show live sports, have a pool table and play live music. Their bar is comprehensive, with some great drink options, including craft beers, real ales, and cider.
St George’s Vaults With a Good Beer Garden
The St George’s Vault is a lovely pub in the centre of Cheltenham. Their interior is charming, with sport on the TV. The pub serves a wonderful selection of lagers and beers, including Staropramen. They also have a very nice “hidden” garden with plenty of seating and a lovely place to relax in the summer.
The Plough Near The Racecourse
The Plough in Prestbury is a pub near the Cheltenham racecourse. They have a wonderful reputation for their range of real ale and ciders. This 17th-century listed building has a thatched roof and an extensive garden. The Plough serves traditional food and is renowned for its pie menu.
The Kings Arms
A short walk from Cheltenham Railway Station, The Kings Arms is a friendly pub. The pub is lovely, and it has a garden for drinking, relaxing, or smoking.
It’s a sports bar with enormous TV screens showing the sporting channels. The Kings Arms also has dartboards, a pool table and free customer WiFi. The bar staff and clientele were all friendly, with some excellent banter. More info…

Whittle Taps, a specialist craft beer pub, is on Regent Street in Cheltenham. They have a lovely contemporary venue with lots of delicious beer options. The Whittle Taps also serve food, including a bottomless brunch. They also show live sports in their venue; thus, it is a fantastic place to visit, especially at the weekend.
