Severn & Wye Smokery, Restaurant & Food Shop
I visited Severn & Wye Smokery for my birthday lunch and had a very nice local fish meal. The smoker is on the A48 in Chaxhill near Minsterworth and Westbury on Severn. They combine the restaurant and the food shop with a nice comfortable seating area and well-presented food, including local fish.
The Restaurant in Chaxhill
The restaurant is open for lunch from midday until 2:30 pm, Monday-Saturday. It also opens for evening meals on a Friday night from 5:30 pm until 9 pm.

The restaurant serves food in the food hall and is a very comfortable and nice atmosphere; the food is delicious. I have detailed what I ate below but the specialities include
- Flash-fried smoked Severn & Wye eel fillet on a bed of mashed potato. They serve this with local cream, Tewkesbury mustard, and Severn cider sauce.
- The Smokery Slate, a trio of our own smoked fish with fresh horseradish and local bread.
- Pan-fried Cardigan Bay scallops and Cornish monkfish.
The Food Shop
The Severn & Wye food hall stocks lots of local produce. This includes selling cheese, a deli counter, chocolate and a fantastic fish counter.
My Meal at Severn & Wye Smokery
For my meal, we had a crab starter and also nicely cooked mussels. For the main course, we had the trio of our own smoked fish. All were delicious, and I enjoyed them all. I will return and recommend it to anyone who likes fish.
