Purely Pickled Eggs is a local Gloucestershire based food business that produces British free-range pickled eggs in ten different flavours. They are spearheading a pickled egg revival across the country! Stockists currently include the new Gloucester Services, Fortnum & Mason in London and The Salutation Inn nr Berkeley, CAMRA’s Best UK pub 2015.
Founder and Pickling Director Sue Tyley says ‘ Pickled eggs have been part of the UK’s food history for hundreds of years and we are bringing them into the 21st century with some exciting and unique flavour twists that make pickled egg aficionados very happy and encourage those who are new to them to have a taste.
We have seen many converts in the two years since we started!’.
The business recently expanded into larger premises, moving from Gloucester to the Salmon Springs Trading Estate in Stroud and has just launched a new Posh Bites range of pickled quail eggs which are already proving popular. ‘We are proud to be promoting British free-range eggs’ said Sue ‘ and with recent bulletins confirming how good eggs are for us, the health-conscious are delighted to find a new way to zing up salads using flavoured pickled eggs. Of course, you still can’t beat having them in a packet of crisps though along with a pint of beer !’
The range of pickled eggs are available in farm shops, food halls, taverns, eateries and online and Sue and her team of Pickled Egg Missionaries take the ‘Pickled Egg Bar’ out on the road to festivals all over the country. They are also becoming popular for wedding celebrations.
